MY JOURNEY TO DEPTH

Freediving Blog

Welcome to My Journey to Depth, a blog in which I share my training tips, freediving adventures and competition stories.

I have heard many times, «I’m progressing really well, but it’s time to leave, it’s so disappointing. What if I’ve had 2 more extra weeks…»
Remember your best dives, the feeling you’ve had. The best thing is to leave when you feel you can carry on going deeper. This is great! And do not be greedy 🙂

Freediver Marianna Gillespie - Final Training in Dahab Blue Hole

Everything will happen next time!
Today I dived to 86 meters with a monofin, after 2,5 months of adaptation, and I am so happy about it!
These months were not easy. Sometimes I wanted to explode with anger, sometimes I wanted to find answers to all of the endless questions, sometimes there was just a lot of misunderstanding.
But with acceptance of the situation comes victory. First I did 80 meters with a huge amount of air left to equalize, then more and more.

Tomorrow I’m flying off to a competition in Indonesia. And finishing up training in this way is the best way. I have 3 days of flights, 4 connections and a ferry. Sabang International Freediving Competition 2018 will be hold on a small island – Palau Weh and will begin on November the 3rd. I will keep you posted 😉
