62 CNF – Red/White Card!! First day of the AIDA Depth World Championship has been a roller-coaster ride like no other!!
I’ve originally had a 3rd announced result in that discipline after Natalia Zharkova with 66m and Fatima Korok with 64m.
But within the first minutes of the competition, Natalia has received a disqualification due to Black out, and Fatima has received a yellow card due to an early turn. So just before my dive I knew that if I do it, it would have been a Gold medal.
The conditions this morning were quite hard, and I was happy that I have announced a very conservative depth for me. Still, it required a lot of concentration.
After performing a clean dive and surface protocol I was delivered a Red card due to one of the judges not hearing the “okay” within my “I am okay”… But when the official results came out in the evening, my performance was validated White..
Clearly I’m glad to have eventually been delivered the rightful card but this saga dimmed the joy of my performance.
Additionally, Nataliia Zharkova, who performed a CNF dive resulting in a DQBO, post a protest she made, has been granted a re-dive.
This judgement, which seems to have been done, not accordingly to the rules, but to the opinion of the judges and/or organization committee, is now creating an unfair situation where all female CNF athletes are on unequal conditions.
Official results will have to wait another 7 days due to re-dives…
