Individual Depth World Championship AIDA 2019 has come to an end! This was the largest freediving competition this year and the main event this season. As you can imagine I really tried to perform at my best.
It has been one of the hardest competitions I’ve ever taken part in and I’m pleased to have finished the championship receiving the Natalia Molchanova Award – A special prize rewarded to the best overall athlete in memory of the strongest overall freediver.
This reward by its name, origin and significance means a LOT to me. I’ve finished the competition with a total of 233 points (1 meter equals 1 point).
As for the individual disciplines, I received GOLD in FIM discipline, joint with Fatima Korok from Hungary (81m). Third place and bronze medal – Jessea Lu from China (80m).
Hanako Hirose from Japan took Gold in CWT with a dive to -101m. I received SILVER diving to 90m, and Bronze went to Jessea Lu from China with 88m.
Natalia Zharkova from Ukraine took Gold in CNF with a dive to -66m and I received SILVER joint with Jessea Lu, diving to 62m.
I want to thank everyone who has been there for me! A massive thanks to my family who have constantly been by my side supporting me through my training and the competition. Without you I couldn’t have done it!
Planned for me next : pool training in St-Germain-en-Laye with the CNO Apnee Club and of course more depth early next year with exciting plans ahead! Stay tuned!
